Vegan Recipe: Chilli Garlic Chutney

Chilli Garlic Chutney

Fiery and flavorful garlic chutney: If you think spice is nice, this red-hot chutney is for you.

Ingredients, Makes 1 cup

10 dried red chillis, stemmed and seeded
12 large cloves garlic
2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 teaspoon tamarind pulp
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon ground roasted cumin

Directions

Soak the chillis in 1½ cups water for 30 minutes. Drain in a colander. Put the chillis and garlic in a blender with the lemon juice, tamarind pulp and 1/4 cup (50 ml) water, and blend to a fine paste. Add the salt and cumin, and blend again. Transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
