High Five Food + Drink, the creator of Brooklyn-based hits Champs Diner and Screamer’s Pizzeria announced Wednesday the grand opening of its latest all-vegan offering, Hartbreakers.
Located at 820 Hart Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn, the 70s-inspired fast-casual spot boasts a rotating menu of scratch-made offerings — instagrammable salads, mouth watering burgers, housemade chik’n, and vibrant plates.
“We wanted a colorful space where everyone feels welcome,” said General Manager Diane Corsones. “There’s no ‘creative design team’ behind the space – it’s us, the same family behind everything saying ‘What sort of place do we want this to be?’. We knew we wanted to do something fun, and we were inspired by how bright the natural light is in the space.”
Guests will swoon over the 18-seat eatery, with powder pink booths and bright orange table sets, vintage wallpaper and knickknacks from the 70s. Plenty of plants, neon and modern touches elevate the time machine decor.
“The menu is full of comfort food with a healthier kick,” said Head Chef Erica Sharkey. “We want people to fill up without weighing them down. I hid away in the back kitchen of Champs for months during odd hours working on this recipe.”
The most popular dish so far? The Picnic Basket – fried chik’n, seitan bacon, cheddar, creamy slaw, pickled red onion with a “special sauce” style mondo sauce on a sesame seed bun.
Hartbreakers’ soft opening hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. On Nov. 1, Hartbreakers will expand to its full hours – 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., every day.
