Stuart Wilde, guide and owner of Wild Earth Llama Adventures, is better known as the “llama guy” to locals and visitors around Taos, New Mexico. His llama trekking adventures are both unique and educational and have earned him a spot on TripAdvisor’s Top Ten Tours in America, with more than 500 5-star guest reviews on travel sites. However, llamas aren’t just his job, they’re his passion. Now, for the ninth year, Wilde is hosting an adventure raffle fundraiser, to ensure he has the resources to continue to rescue and help llamas in need.

Stuart and Leah Wilde have been rescuing and providing homes, long term care, and rehabilitation to unwanted and abandoned llamas for more than 20 years and currently have 36 rescued llamas under their care. Most of these animals have come from unwanted, abandoned and often neglected or abused situations.

Llamas are cute and fuzzy, and make wonderful hiking companions,” said Wilde. “Unfortunately, many people get them as a breeding investment or exotic pet, only to forget about them after the novelty has worn off,” he said. “We feel a great responsibility to these animals, who have enriched our lives in so many ways. Rescuing them is our way of giving back to them for all that they have given to our family and the thousands of people that have trekked with us over the years. ”

The grand prize of this year’s Llama Rescue Adventure Raffle is a four-day/three-night New Mexico adventure vacation. The winner will receive three nights lodging in Taos at Casa Gallina, whitewater rafting with Los Rios River Runners, hot air ballooning with Paradise Balloons and a “Take a Llama to Lunch!” wilderness day hike for two with Stuart and his team of rescued trail llamas.

The $100 raffle ticket donations go directly toward the feeding, veterinary care, and maintenance of the growing herd of rescued llamas, as well as facility upkeep. The raffle drawing will be held on January 31, 2019 and the winner announced on February 1.

“This adventure raffle is a fun way to give people the opportunity to support our ongoing llama rescue efforts here in New Mexico,” said Wilde. “It also gives the winner a chance to visit Taos and have an amazing adventure vacation experience.”

The Wilde’s rescue efforts have recently been picked up as a Special Project of the Taos Community Foundation, a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. For more information and to enter the raffle, visit http://www.LlamaAdventures.com/adventure-raffle.html.
